Children's fishing lake restocked
Once again Waimarino children have a lake full of fish to catch. Last week the annual release of trout into the larger of the Rangataua Lakes was carried out. The release programme is designed to g i v e children a chance to catch fish and learn about trout fishing. Pictured are Harry Brown, Secretary of the Waimarino Ward of the Conservancy Council and Ron Walkley, ward councillor, releasing 300 rainbow trout into Rangataua Lakes at the
Ohakune Domain. The fish are two-year-old stock from the Tongariro Hatchery in Turangi. Average weight of the trout is between half and one kilogram and ideally sized for children to catch. Adults are asked not to fish at the lakes so that children can gain the full benefit from the programme, and are reminded that there are a number of good fishing streams in the area suitable for them.
