Large print books

Ohakune Library has in stock large print books for people with poor eyesight. Some of the books belong to the Ohakune Public Library while most come, from Palmerston North and are changed several times a year. There are about 400 titles in stock at present, all of which are full, uncondensed versions covering a wide range of fiction and non-fiction. For people who find even reading large print books difficult there are cassette tape "books" in the library.

They are ordered from the National Library though a small stock can be held at Ohakune if the demand is sufficient. The tapes contain whole books and about five tapes make up each book. They take five to six hours to play. Enquiries about the tapes can be made at the Ohakune and Raetihi Libraries. In the children's library there are new puzzles for toddlers and up. A fee of $5.50 is charged to join the puzzle library, with a fine of $3 charged for puzzles not returned complete.
