Golfers play for deaf

Two thousand dollars was raised by Ruapehu Lions at a charity golf tournament held recently, the proceeds to benefit St Dominic's School for the Deaf in Fielding. Around 50 people took part in the golf tournament with a further 50 people taking part in a dinner and social function at the end of the day. The school has been a project of the club's for the past 20 years and sadly, this year marks the last time Lions will be involved in fundraising.

A Government decision to close the school at the end of the year because o f running costs marks the end of an era for Ruapehu Lions.
