Ohakune-Karioi prizes given
A number of outstanding senior rugby players were honoured at the recent prize giving for the Ohakune Karioi Rugby Club. Brothers Kellick and Lachlan Harding featured in the line-up of
prize winners - Kellick by winning the Winston Pearce Cup for the best forward and Lachlan for the most points notched up in the season. The brothers, who come from a long background of rugby
have upheld a consistent high standard of play for a number of seasons. Other seniors to b e awarded prizes were Steve Cameron for the most efficient player who was also awarded the title player of the
year, Harry Matthews who received the Malcolm Whale Trophy for the most improved back and Brendon Wilson for scoring the most tries. Players player of the year, decided by the players, was Steve Cameron. Best club supporter was Vaughan Cameron. The Ron McDougall Cup for the member with the best club spirit went to R e x Oliver. Senior reserve awards were: most outstanding back, Albert Taylor; Pataka Cup for an outstanding all round player, Keith Ellory; best club supporter, T. Mott; outstanding forward, Greg Taylor; top points scored, Terrence McLeod. Under 19's Cranston Cup for best player on and off the field, S . Nepe; Oliver Cup for most improved player, B. Philips; best forward, M. Mills; best back, O. Vallaru.
