RESOURCE CENTRE APPLYING FOR TRAINING PROGRAMMES

The Waimarino Resource Centre in Raetihi has made a number of attempts to run training programmes for its trainees but so far has been unsuccessful. Officials say the centre has applied nine times in recent months for ACCESS and other similar training programmes and last week submitted another three applications for courses in leatherwork, outdoor pursuits and sewing. Trainees have been involved in voluntary community work in recent months and the centre has been used as a Periodic Detention base.
