Social worker for Waimarino
The region may soon have its very own Social Worker, it was announced at the full council meeting of the Waimarino District Council last Wednesday. Waimarino Mayor Garrick Workman said
the Department of Social Welfare has approved the creation of the position, taking into consideration the importance of a resident social worker. The social worker will be based in Taihape but could possibly reside in the Waimarino, de-
pending on who is appointed to the position. Mr Workman said he was advised however, that even a full-time social worker would only be available in the field for approximately two, to two and a half days a week because of the other demands of the position, such as writing up reports and planning submissions.
