WANGANUI RIVER FRIENDS

A new concept to conservc the beauty of the Wanganui River is about to be put into practice by a group of Wanganui and King Country people. A number of people have expressed interest in belonging to a Friends of the Wanganui River group, to be run along similar lines to groups alrcady in cxistcnce in national parks around the country. The group will work independently from the Department of Conservation but support the department in various ways, including becoming involved in physical projects both in the Whanganui National Park and on the river.
