King's win College skiing

The five member ski team from Auckland's King's College won the 1988 North Island Secondary Schools Skiing Competition at Turoa Skifields last week. The event was contested over two days with each ski team competing in a timed Giant Slalom and a head-to-head Dual Slalom race. Runner up was last year's winner, Ruapehu College who were beaten by two points. Shearing third place were Wellington Col-

lege, Rotorua Girls High School, and Rosehill College. This ski race i s probably the biggest in the country with a total of 109 teams entered.

More than 500 racers competed in the two day event. Chief of Race Miss Lee-Anne Kane said that the overall standard of racing was much higher this year and

that the overall results were very pleasing. Kings College ski team return to Auckland with the covetcd Skiland Trophy and the Nicola Hayes Memorial Award.
