Waimarino radiography to be covered
Waimarino Hospital is not going to be without a radiographer, despite long serving Jessie Seaman's retirement. At a recent Waimarino District Council
meeting concern was expressed that the Wanganui Area Health Board were not going to hire a replacement radiographer for the hospital. But Principal Nurse
Eve Rush told the Bulletin this week that the local community's X ray needs would be met, with Waiouru Hospital's part-time radiographer also working part time at the Waimarino Hospital. As for the needs of
the winter ski field visitors, Principal Nurse Rush s a i d negotiations would be made with the Area Health Board to provide on-call time. She said there should be no problems in the mean time. In the case
of major accidents the patient is usually taken to Wanganui direct, said Nurse Rush. With minor fractures it is acceptable to wait up to 24 hours before x-raying as no medical problems are caused by such delays, she said.
