Youngsters to race at Turoa tomorrow

Around 100 young skiers are expected to compete in the McDonalds Cup ski race this weekend.

Sponsored b y McDonalds Family Restaurant, t h e McDonalds Cup will feature a slalom and gi-

ant slalom race and is open to all junior racers 15 years and under. The event consists of two runs in giant slalom and two runs in a slalom. The races are scheduled to start and Ilam on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4. A prize-giving for the event will be held at Ruapehu College Hall at 5pm on Sunday. Prizes will be awarded to the winning boys and girls in each of four age groups ranging from 8-15. A tremendous amount of voluntary work has been put into the McDonalds Cup as well as

the recent HomestyleRossignol race weekend. Hard working members of the Turoa

Alpine Ski Club Inc have been burning the midnight oil for several weeks to ensure the success of these events

and organisers hope similar brilliant weather conditions will prevail this weekend for the McDonalds Cup.
