VANDALISM TO HUTS
Pipiriki DoC staff are currently involved in investigating a spate of vandalism to huts in the region. The Ongarue and Porie huts were vandalised sometime in the last month, with windows smashed and stores stolen from a supply cupboard. Ranger Dennis McDonnell said the offenders kicked a hole in the wall of the cupboard to obta'in carrned food, candles and other dry goods. Park staff suspect the same people caused similar damage to huts at around the same time lajst year.
