The Taihape Li[onesses are excited that their last few weeks of hard work will contribute towards a highly successful day this Saturday when Taihape will host the annual Spring Fling celebrations. When the train load of Feilding residents arrive in Taihape they will be greeted by the Hunterville Pipe Band. Static displays will surround the railway yard area to familiarise our visitors with Taihape's many attractions. Static displays will include white water

rafting, off roaders, mountain safety, new and vintage cards, and a shearing display (weather permitting). The Taihape Lions club will also be running childrens' games and races, around this area. In the middle of town, on the vacant site between NZI Insurance and Sykes Chemist, will be a number of stalls run by various community groups. Stalls will include those run by the Kindergarten, Kohanga Reo, the Moawhango Marae, Ballet Club, Lionesses, Wo-

men's Centre, Papanui Netball Club and others. At 12 midday primary school children will have the opportunity to see a film, free of charge at Taihape's Majestic Theatre. Clowns - ; will be giving lollies and other goodies away throughout the day and the museum will be open for those who are interested in taking a closer look at Taihape's history. Vintage cars will freely transport any eager Feilding residents to Utiku and back, the main attraction in the small settlement being Gordon Riach's bargain wool store. A "knit or sew and show" competition has been organised, for all those interested in presenting their knitted or sewn items for judging. The response to this competition has been positive, and enquires have been received from residents of Waituna West and Feilding as well as locals.
