Ski field accident
A Turoa ski lift attendant is in Wanganui Base hospital after falling from a Jumbo T Bar tower yesterday. He was working in strong winds and poor visibility de-icing the tower when the accident happened. It took more than an hour to rescue the man from the ski field due to his condition and the poor visibility. The Taupo based Phillips Rescue Helicopter evacuated the man. Two other lift attendants were reported as suffering minor injuries from falling ice yesterday.
