New top man for bank

Trust Bank Central has appointed a new chief executive, M r Derek Faulkner. Mr Faulkner will commence his duties with the bank this week but does not take up the position officially until October 3, when outgoing chief executive, Mr Ewing Robertson, retires. Mr Faulkner brings extensive experience in the banking industry to his new job. Since 1985 he has been the Auckland corporate manager for a major trading bank, with re-

sponsibility for developing the bank's exposure to large companies in the Auckland region. Prior to that Mr Faulkner was closely involved in the feasibility studies for, and subsequent establishment of, New Zealand's credit card system. He was seponded from the Commercial Bank of Australia in 1978 for this work and subsequently became general manger of New Zealand Bankcard Associates Limited. There, he was responsible for the

profitable operation and development of the Bankcard scheme in this country. Retiring chief execu-

tive, Mr Ewing Robertson, has been with the Trust Bank organisation in Hawke's Bay for 25 years.
