Dave and his surfers

Recently returned from Europe after a three year absence as a

front-man Dave McArtney has returned to front his own new band the "Silver Surfers". Dave is playing and singing better than ever before and revelling in his new songs and sound. The "Silver Surfers", previously the "When The Cat's Away" backing band, are the perfect compliment to Dave's unique talent. The Silver Surfer's line-up is a seven piece band: Drums, Bass, Keyboards, Guitar, Percussion, Sax and TrumPet. Laying it down on Drums is Wayne Bell, stick man o f "Everything That Flies". On Bass Guitar, Ross McDermott, an import from Christchurch Band "Speaking Jivanese". A Musicians musician . Ross is also a talented song-writer and recording engineer. The man on K e y - boards is Steve Larkin. Steve has been resident in Queenstown for the past five years, another hidden talent. On Guitar is Gary Verberne. Gary has played with Graham Brazier, Midge Marsden, D D Smash, Roger Fox Big Band, Shona Laing and many more. On Percussion is Jay Foulkes of "Peking Man", and Sax and Trumpet players are of the Newton Hoons who recently made up part

of the horn section for the Ecletic Club, win-

ners of the 1987 "Battle of the Bands".
