Turoa weatherman

Turoa Skifields hired their own weather forecaster for the lead up and running of this week's BP Europa FIS ski race series. Weather Office forecaster Oliver Druce provided daily weather reports up to and during the international racing at Ruapehu this week. The forecaster was based in Ohakune during FIS week, commu-

nicating by facsimile machine with his Wellington office and watching closely a s weather patterns formulated. "Race organisers will have to make decisions every day based on weather forecasts, s o my job is to be there and make those forecasts as accurately as possible," says Mr Druce.
