Ohakune run update

A recent update on the Ohakune 10km road race set for September 10th gives the course for the event as well as the event sponsors. The course begins outside the council buildings and heads towards Parklands Dairy, turns right to Old Station Rd to arrive at Railway Row. The competitors then head for Ruapehu Rd to turn right aiong Shannon St. Another right at Miro St left at Thames St and the home run down Goldfinch St to finish at the start in Ayr St. The sponsors of the

race are: Winstones Mill, who are providing a trophy for the first man and woman home; the Waimarino Bulletin, providing the Junior award, Turoa-Taxis, providing the veterans trophy and Ski F.M., who are providing the trophy for the first man and woman home in the open section The organiser, Vince Pakinga, hope the race will attract a large number of runners from Tauramanui to Taihape and promote Ohakune as a central venue for such events in the future.
