Radio waves in mountain air
Broadcasting of Volcanic FM at Ohakune's Junction began quietly on Saturday morning 97.9 Mhz in Ohakune and 93.9 at Whakapapa, with staff members gathering for a champagne and croissant breakfast at the studio. The crew gathered, with the exception of shareholders Lioyd Solly and Dave Campbell, for a photo: Phii Vaughan (administration executive), Robert TeMoana (advertising manager), Nicky Evans (promotions coordinator), John Campbell (programme director), Martin Devlin (night announcer), Tony Storey (drive-time announcer), and Mike Mackay (operations co-ordinator).
