Budget help available
Advice on home budgeting is now available in the Waimarino. Seven members of the Waimarino Community Advice Service recently completed a course for advising on home budgeting problems and coping with s u c h things as repossession and debt. Many people have a constant struggle to maintain the home and family from day to day. Often the problems can be ironed out when
they can be shown how to balance income and daily expenditure, although it may take time and willpower. For many people trying to cope with today's living costs budgeting advice would be well worth the effort according to CAS volunteer Helen Irwin. The course instructor was Mrs Joyce Johnson of Wanganui and also present were speakers from Social Welfare and the local Registrar and bailiff. Mrs Johnson is a full-
time instructor for new advisory groups in the area covering New Plymouth, WanganuiHunterville, and Taihape. She said that where her Home Budgeting Advisory groups are formed they are used extensively. The CAS office in 40 Queen St, Raetihi will be used as a budgeting advice centre. It i s open between 9.30am and 12.30pm from Monday to Saturday. People wishing to take advantage of this
free service should ring 54-834, the office within these hours. The Advisory group can also give information on Welfare Benefits available. There are also special benefits available to those desperately in need. One of the hopes of the CAS Advisors is that people will start using the service when they begin to foresee home financial problems. This way they may be able to avoid serious difficulties.
