CHAIRLIFT BREAKDOWN
Turoa's Giant Chairlift broke down on Sunday. Mountain Manager Robin Foubister said the problem was a mechanical transmission problem between the engine and the gearbox in the drive station. He said the lift was running later in the day as a test and that it would have run on Monday if the field were open. A team were to investigate the problem last night but that wouldn't affect the running of the lift, he said. Av worst a new part would have to be made, said Mr Foubister.
