New shooting rooms
The Waimarino Smallbore Shooting Club anticipates an increase in membership since setting up new club rooms in Raetihi. The club recently bought a wooden garage from Timberlands, Turangi which now sits on piles at the A&P Showgrounds awaiting electrical wiring. It was a team effort
by members who willingly gave a morning to prepare the ground and lay the piles for the arrival of the building. The siting of the building, next to the produce shed where the club hold weekly shoots, makes it feasible for an adjoining door to be added at a later date. Members are optimistic that numbers will increase now that somewhere warm is
available for members to sit and wait between shoots. Conditions are now conducive to hosting other clubs for competition shoots. There is even provision to extend the building should membership grow. The Waimarino 's annual business house shoot was postponed until club rooms were established. The competition is expected to be held within the next two months.
