Sundry charges raised

The cost of information was discussed by the District Council recently, along with all council services. Councillors asked the District Manager about a minimum fee for information, for example $11 including GST for

research taking longer than 15 minutes. "We have to look at this responsibly, using common sense quite frankly, otherwise we'd be charging councillors for information," said Mr Murrihy. The committee decided to leave the ad-

ministration charges as they stood, with a charge being levied for photocopying and for reports from the council's computer. All other sundry charges were discussed at the meeting, with recommendations that in many cases the

higher of the two ex borough charges be adopted. Town Clerk Hope Vaughn said the charges had been set so that the services would be self funding. Jumps include the cost to Raetihi ratepayers for a water connection from $211 to the Ohakune charge of $272. An eating house licence i n Raetihi goes up from $110 to $143, though a retail food premises licence drops in Raetihi from $110 to $88 and goes up in Ohakune from $79.20 to $88. A theatre licence goes up in both towns to $44, from $33 in Raetihi and from $22 in Ohakune.
