Le Barn opens for '88

Le Barn, situated at the Ohakune Junction, caters for the discerning tastes of gourmets. The restaurant with its air of relaxed comfort opened for business last Thursday. Just some of the mouth-watering dishes to appear on the blackboard menu include entrees Potato Pancake topped with salmon and caviar; smoked eel and horseradish dressing. Featuring on the mains menu are Thai chicken with spicy curry sauce and venison with spicy cajun sauce, to name a few.

Chef Michael Slayton has been in the restaurant trade for 13 years. Originally from Detroit, Michigan he owned and operated his own restaurants. Michael has lived in New Zealand for the past four and a half years, working i n Auckland. The decor of Le Barn reflects his concept of dining. Michael aims to create a w a r m friendly atmosphere suitable for all ages. The glow of candles on each table and the

warmth of heaters placed strategically around the dining area eifsure that diners are comfortable inside, no matter how cold it may be outside. Michael and his staff are ready and waiting to receive the public and aim to give their customers the best service in the region. Prices are comparable with other eating houses in the Waimarino.
