Brains drain for Plunket

Many of the Waimarino's best brains, along with many lesser intellectuals, gathered for the Ohakune Plunket quiz night to test their memories on June 24.

About 30 teams of four competed in the general knowledge quiz which was arranged to raise money for plunket. Each team member paid an entrance fee of $5.

Competition was more serious this year, even among the lower ranking teams who were trying to score better than their close rivals. Laughter was still

heard at times, no doubt as a result of some of the howler answers. Some of the (hopefully) tongue in cheek answers were: What is the name of Britain's first atomic research station? Answer: (Harwell) - Duke Nuke, La Bomba. What do Armenia,

Kazakhstan and Turkmemstan have in common? Answer: (All in USSR) - Three wise men. In 1831 who sailed on a voyage of discovery to the Galapagos Islands on the HMS B ea gle?
