Subdivision approved

Flooding of some proposed sections was a concern of Waimarino District councillors and the town planner at a subdivision application hearing on June 8. The application was from Paul Scarf, Rangataua property developer, to subdivide a block of land in Park Avenue, Ohakune, creating 1 1 new sections

between the Miro Park lake and Miro Street. Three of the sections would be adjacent to a man made lake. Councillors were concerned at the closeness of the lake and that the drainage from the lake may not handle a fifty year flood. The council resolved that an engineer's report be supplied regarding the possible flooding of the proposed subdivision and whether the structure was capable of handling a fifty year flood. The subdivision was otherwise approved

with a number of normal conditions attached.
