Boy wins off road model car
An Ohakune youngster has won a fantastic prize in a major nationwide competition. Nine year old Darren Munden was one of a hundred winners from over 30,000 entries nationwide, who entered Bluebird's 'Top 10' competition. The object of the competition was to collect game cards from any of the snack pack range of Bluebird chippies. Those who collected a card with the word Top' and other with '10' w.ere eligible to win. His prize, a Nikko Thunderbolt radio controlled car, is worth about $500. What makes it so precious to Darren is the fact that it is s o m e thing he has wanted for a long time. The problem that faces him now is learning how to control it using the hand-held remote control unit. He has already received a request from his teacher and classmates to take the car to school for a demonstration run. What does Darren think of winning the car? He was nearly lost for words, but managed: "it's neat."
