Schoolboy rugby popular
Saturday morning school age rugby has proved popular again this season with around 60 players turning out for the opening round a t Waiouru recently. Raetihi can be thankful for the few enthusiastic parents who have helped this season get under way, with a midget, junior, intermediate and senior team. Raetihi will compete at Ohakune, Raetihi and Turangi's round robin competition. They have had mixed success so far with Waiouru's
games and a friendly match at Raetihi against Ohakune and Waiouru. The round-robin is played every second weekend giving a free week to practice or play. The club has been donated player of the day trophies for each grade and these will be known as the Grandfather Trophies. Opening Day top players were: Senior Winter Trophy, K. Arahaanga and L. Chung. Intermediate Windle Trophy, Sherie Hansen. Junior Journeaux, G. Taura. Midget Hammond, B.
Spurr. These trophies were presented again on the following day's play: Senior Winter Trophy, D. Metekingi. Windle Trophy K . Windle. Journeaux Trophy, P. Callaghan. Hammond Trophy, C. Winter. Officers elected at the recent meeting were: President: D. Windle; Secretary: D. Hinana; Treasurer: J. Billington; Patron: D. Hall (Snr); Committee: G. Pope, B. Journeaux, K. Hautana, C. Winter, H. Winter, E. Windle, C. Hammond.
