College Soccer winners
The College Indoor Soccer team have won the first phase of the Indoor League which has been held every Wednesday night at the College Gym. They came through the season by winning every game and beat last year's champions, the Warriors, by 5-4 after trailing 3-1 at the interval. The team players were John McCartney, John Laurensen, Gerry Bidwell, Brendan Gammetler, Keir Whipp, Matthew Reed, Junior Kaata and Karalus Kaata. by Keir Whipp. Winter sports kick off Winter sports at Ruapehu College will be starting on Wednesday, June 22. Each whanau will compete for the interwhanau championship title. The students will take part in team
events including soccer, rugby, netball and basketball. The inter-whanau competition is spread throughout the year and includes speech contests, swimming and athletics. by Keir Whipp Korimako Speech Competition Preliminaries in the junior and senior sections of the Korimako speech competitions have been completed in class. Finals will be held next week and our representatives for the regional competitions will be chosen. Netballers d o well College A netball team are doing well in the local competition so for winning three early hard games
against Karioi, Raetihi and Ruapehu by narrow margins. Several girls from netball teams are keen to do their umpires' exams and are working towards that by attending classes Saturday afternoon and umpiring Saturday mornings. Maxine George has been selected in the Wanganui under- 18 netball team.
