Lion's auction
Ruapehu Lions is calling upon the communities of Raetihi and Ohakune, to make this weekend's monster auction a huge success. The aim of the auction is to raise funds to equip the Raetihi Fire Brigade with rescue equipment. A similar auction run by the Ohakune Fire Brigade in 1985, raised over $10,000. The proceeds were used to purchase hydraulic 'Jaws of Life' for use at the scene of car accidents. Auction items contributed by the community will be collected by Lions Club members
or the Raetihi Fire Brigade this week. To date, auctionable items have been slow in coming from Raetihi residents. Auctioning begins at Ilam at the Raetihi Showground's produce shed and will continue until all saleable items are auctioned. One of the key items for auction will b e firewood cut to length, by the trailer load. Other attractions include quick fire meat raffles and afternoon tea provided by Raetihi Plunket.
