Good spirits in netball

Goal scoring was fairly good during Saturday's netball despite the very wet conditions.

In the Ruapehu College 1 - College 3 game a fairly sharp and controlled College 1 team notched up another win, netting 2 7 goals in the first half. The goal shooting sisters Coral and Celine Rahi impressed with their unruffled and steady play. During the second half College 1 changed most of their positions and Cheryl Hinana and Maxine George showed their versatility by potting another 28 goals. Despite College 3 adding one goal to their handicap in the second half they played hard to the final whistle, showing good team spirit and sportsmanship. PostBank are an improved side who dominated play against College 2, making better use of the ball in the wet conditions.

The Karioi - Ruapehu clash was even until the interval. In the second half Ruapehu dominated play and moved ahead for a deserved win. Primary netball is a joy to watch, and it is pleasing to see so many parents and supporters at netball t o encourage these young players. Umpires classes are continuing after netball and clubs are reminded that representatives from all clubs should be attending. The written examination from Wanganui is to be held July 4. Maxine George has been successful in being selected for the Wanganui Under- 18 netball team and should gain valuable playing experience as a reward for having to travel to Wanganui for practice twice a week.
