RAFTING DEATH
A 36-year old local man is dead after a rafting accident on the Whangaehu River over the weekend. The man was with a party of rafters who entered the river at a metal pit. The accident occurred close to the man's home. Due to the remoteness of the area, the Waimarino Rescue Helicopter was used to recover the body and ferry the other members of the party across the river to safety.
