Situation: A trough of low pressure lies across the North Island and an anticylcone is intensifying to east of the South Island. These systems should move slowly north east during the week and northerlies expected to spread onto country on Thursday and Friday. Forecast: Scattered rain in the east at first and clearing weather elsewhere. Cool easterlies strong in exposed places. From Wednesday dry weather and winds turing milder north easterly.
