Hard work pays off for indoor basketballers
A year's hard fundraising has payed off for a team of indoor basketball players, who fly to Singapore this month for competition. Since May 1987 the team have fundraised in Waiouru through holding discos, cake stalls and raffles and catering for army functions. Each team member contributed half of the cost of fares and accommodation from their own savings. Team members are Juanita Brausch, Toots Brown, Sue and Sonny Toi, Wendy Wallis, Moggy Taylor, Rangi Clarke, Shirley Rukupo, Shirley Mitohell, S h a r o n Crack, Freda Taylor and Dianne and Tom Campbell. Coach's message: Thank you to all those groups and individuals who have supported us over the past year;
Head Quarters Company for the use of the Rugby Club; AGI for cake stalls; all those who supported our numerous 200 Club raffles.
Our special thanks to Tania Rimene who coached and supported the team but who is unable to make the trip.
