Gift from staff member
Waimarino Hospital has benefitted from a generous donation by a former staff member. Former Principal Nurse Betty Longcroft who retired earlier this year, last week presented the hospital with a 'Resusci Baby' - a life-like inf a n t mannikin for practicing cardio pulmonary resuscitation. The presentation was made at an afternoon tea attended by hospital staff a n d representatives of the Waimarino District Council. The infant mannikin is similar to the fullsize Resusci-Anni models used by health org anisations and hospitals. The model is equipped with a moniter that registers correct and incorrect application of CPR. Principal Nurse Eve Rush said the baby model has been in constant use for staff
training since its arrival at the hospital. Also presented was an infant car seat from the Waimarino Plunket Society.
The car seat will be primarily for hospital use: -for babies travelling in the ambulance. -for practice in ante-
natal groups. -for parents to borrow on a short term basis. Plunket president Petra Corbett presented the seat to Mrs Rush.
