Students to plan 'a-thons
The student council meets regularly and have a number of issues in hand. There are hopes of two table-tennis tables being set up, possibly in the hall, which will be available for use by the students at lunch times and possibly interval. Telethon fund-raising will be taking place shortly and Chairpersons Maxine George and Kerry Baker have asked for suggestions for themes. The response has been small but one almost definite is a Muftithon. Students will pay a small amount to arrive at school dressed
casually rather in uniform. This will take place after the mid-year exams. Other ideas included a Bake-a-thon and a disco. Ms Kane will be organising the College ball this year but it has yet to be decided who will be responsible for the decorations and photography. Army Recruiting The Army Recruiting Officer visited College on Tuesday June 7 to speak with all students interested in finding
out about a career in the Army. Thirty-five students discovered that entry to the Army these days is very competitive and all should be aiming for a B2 or better in School Certificate subjects. Several students sat the pre-entry test. Careers Mrs Meredith is presently involved in a careers induction course run by the Labour Department in Wanganui.
