Anna brings home a gold!

An Ohakune girl has struck gold on the water. Anna Dowcett 15, was thrilled when she recently won a gold medal for rowing at Lake Ruataniwha in Twizel. Anna, a coxswain with the Aramoho Rowing Club and Wanganui Girl's College, has been participating in the sport for the last two seasons. The two weeks leading up to the competition were tiring, according to Anna. The group practiced during weekends and for three hours after school. The hard work payed off for the girls who won convincingly against other secondary school teams from around the North Island. Anna has competed in both coxswain's fours and eights, and is keen to carry on in competition next season.
