Raetihi museum adds another room
ByLynleyWard Raetihi Museum is expanding to make room for some of the many artefacts around Raetihi. The Museum Society is adding a room to the back of the main building as a place for old engines and farm machines. There they will" be restored and displayed. Later in the year, an outside area will be set up for big machinery such as haybailers and reapers. The society's president Mr Ross Journeaux, says this will go "part of the way" towards displaying the large number of artefacts available. "We have far more equipment than room available." He says the building's completion will entirely depend on working bees. The latest addition to the museum's collection is a Lister Start-o-matic \ diesel-fueled lighting plant. Mr Journeaux says it was the main source of power for many farmers before electricity.
