WANGANUI RIVER FLOWS HEARING DATE SET
Reg Barrett, the General Manager of the Central Districts Catchment Boards, today confirmed that submissions for the Wanganui Minimum Flows issue will be considered by a Tribunal on Friday 8 July, 1988. The Taumarunui Courthouse is the nominated venue. Although the format for adopting proceedings will be determined by the Tribunal, Mr Barrett has indicated there is a possibility that there will be Saturday sittings to enable a wide participation by the Public. The cost of sending a complete copy of all submissions made to the 1250 parties involved is beyond the means of a body primarily funded by ratepayers, says Mr Barrett. Full copies will however be available to the public on a user pays basis with every endeavour being made to minimise the cost. All submissions will be available to view at any catchment board office and at the Taumarunui Public Library. A precis of the submissions will be sent to all parties providing submissions and this cost will be absorbed by the Board. It is anticipated that the precis will be in the hands of all parties within three weeks.
