Logical step for ski shops
Ski Yer Ileart Out and The Ski Shed joined forces on March 30, 1988 forming New Zealand's largest chain of ski specialist stores. The new parent holding company will be known as Ski Corp. Mr Nigel Taylor, a new Ski Corp Director, says that both companies expe- , rienced similar growth and expansion limitations due to the size of the New Zealand market and that a , national chain is .the logi- ( cal step.
He says that despite 10 years of good-naturcd rivalry between the two chains, the suggestion to merge took only four weeks to formulate and implement. "All stores are now called Ski Yer Heart Out, and each store retains its existing ownership, though each Director holds an equal share in Ski Corp," said Mr Taylor. Directors of Ski Corp are: Mr Andrew Seccombe, Mr Nigel Taylor, Mr Chester Becroft, Mr Alastair Salmond and Mr Jon larvis.
"Ski Corp's aim is io promote Ski Yer Hcart Out as the leading national chain. "Naturally our combined purchasing power and coordinated group marketing will mean even more competitive pricing and service", said Mr Seccombe. "Ski Corp will also be looking for new dircctions in other ski rclated business activities", said Mr Seccombe. Ski Yer Heart Out stores are now located in Wellington and Ponsonby as well as their existing Takapuna, Parnell and Hamilton stores.
