Unbeaten run still

Ohakune/Karioi had a convincing win over Utiku Old Boys at the weekend, with the score at the final whistle 19/4. The match concluded Ohakune's unbeaten run in the Northern Wanganui senior rugby competition. Steve Cameron provided the highlight with a solid tackle before picking up the ball and feeding the backs.

This lead to the first try of the game. Ohakune went on to score two more tries, two conversions and a penalty kick. Utiku OB players Peter Stratton and Paul Kavanagh had outstanding games, with Chris Karatau in the backs. Andrew Payne scored the team's try. Ohakune meets a strong adversary in

Raetihi when they clash in what is being called a championship trial next Saturday. The game kicks off at 2.45pm at Raetihi. Ohakune Karioi are enjoying a good team spirit at present, though attendances at practices are not good. Out of about 25 players in the team only about 12 are turning up, so the team's full potential is not realized yet.
