Recently the DSIR asked all New Zealand Secondary Schools to nominate a student to be considered for a trip to the United States in the summer of 1988-89. NASA is offering one New Zealand student a place at their International Summer School. After an in-school selection process where students were asked to give the reasons why they should be nominated, Helen Burgess was chosen as the Ruapehu College candidate. Zealand to be shortlisted for interview and we all hope she will be selected. COLLEGE DISCO The students of Ruapehu College are organising a college disco on Thursday May 5. This is open to all students of Ruapehu College and is to raise money for the Australian Rugby/Netball teams and touring party. It will have full supervision at all times and has the usual blue beat rules. The venue is Ruapehu College Hall, 7.00pm to 11pm and the cost is $2.00. Transport is being
provided for Raetihi and Waiouru students. COMMUNITY COLLEGE VISIT This week 25 form five students will visit Wanganui Regional Community College as part of the rural schools' Link Programme. The first group spends Tuesday/Wednesday at the college and the second group Thursday/Friday. Students are given a
general introduction to the College and then choose one module from Clay and Ceramics, Horticulture, hairdressing, Health and Nutrition, Assertiveness in Action, Electrical/Electronics, Engineering and Sewing, spending one and a half days working in that area. TECHNOLOGY VISIT On March 25 eight senior students travelled to Wellington to visit the Central Institute of Technology. Students were able to investigate two areas of interest and gain an overview
