Society visit

By

James

Graham

Fifteen members of the Adelaide Phoenix Society made an overnight stay in Ohakune Maxch 12 as part of a nine-day tour of the North Island. The society was formed about 30 years ago to provide a sheltered workshop and support for the intellectually disabled in the city. The recreation officer for the organisation, Mike Taylor, is in charge of the visitors, each of whom suffers from some form of intellectual disability. Their ages range from 23 to 57. "Most of them just have behaviour problems and don't really need our care," he said. "A trip like this is just what a lot of them need."
