Sewerage report awaited
The Waimarino District Council are awaiting a full report from District Council engineers Payne Sewell Ltd, on the practicability of sewerage ponds for the community of Pipiriki. The proposal was put forward by Works Engineer Craig Ryland. In a letter to the council Mr Graeme Young of Payne Sewell Ltd, the council's consultant engineers, said the proposal to install a 'fully fledged' sewerage treatment system at Pipiriki was a "feasible option still to be pursued." The system involves a six inch pipe system carrying effluent to an oxidation pond. Mayor Workman said the council will put off maleing a decision until the report is received. An independant evaluation may be "prudent" at a later date, he said. The council plans to hold a meeting of concerned parties upon receipt of the report.
