College praised

Buildings supervisor Mr Ken Rogers, who works for the Wanganui Education Board, inspected Ruapehu College and came out with complimentary remarks. "After seeing the schools in Wellington I was very pleased to see a college with virtually no vandalism. It was a refreshing change," commented Mr Rogers. He later went on about the excellent care put into the school. "Rarely before have I seen such attention put in from the students," stated Mr Rogers who has visited many buildings in his past work. Hard Memories Mrs M. George, the Dean of Girls at Ruapehu College, is running a club every Wednesday afternoon to document the school's history through old photographs. The project invoives pupils from the school, but the problems arise when putting names to faces. So if you attended the college in the past thirty years you may be able to help. If people could make themselves available to help name the people in the photographs it would be appreciated. If you can help contact Mrs M. George at the College. College students help others On Saturday April 30 sponsored work will be carried out by students of Ruapehu College in aid of the "Netball and Rugby Teams and Supporters Tour of Australia". Students will be seeking sponsorship to do charitable work for our community. If you know of anyone who is sick, elderly, or infirm, then contact Mrs M. George at the college on 58398. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Very enthusiastic students and parents will be cutting lawns, stacking wood, cleaning windows etc for the Grand Tour in August of 1988. Junior maths competition The University of Otago is once again holding a Junior Maths

Competition after last year's enthusiastic response. The competition will involve over 5000 students from 150 schools ranging from forms three to five. Ruapehu College is again entering with 13 pupils, 10 of whom are third formers. Sponsoring the event is the National Bank of New Zealand. They hope to encourage younger people to look at maths as a more leisurely activity. All of the exam papers will be taken at the pupils own college on Wednesday April 27 coincidentally the first day of the "focus on Science and Technology Week." Mrs B. Cast will be organising Ruapehu's sittings and is hoping for some success. Alert all seniors If you have nothing to do through May get down and start swatting because mid-year exarns are on their way. June 9-16. Fotex frame us The Fotex Company visited Ruapehu College two weeks ago on April 12. The purpose was to frame all the

pupils and teachers but it wasn't quite as it sounds. Fotex is a photographic studio and were taking shots of all the Hapu groups. If the shots come out right they are expected to be back in a couple of week's time.
