So you know all the rules? Here's an example of a rule of rugby set out from the referees point of view. The Law: Law 18: A tackle occurs when a player carrying the ball in the field of play is held by one or more opponents so that he is brought to
the ground or the ball comes into contact with the ground. If the ball carrier is on one knee, or both knees, or is sitting on the ground, or is on top of another player who is on the ground, the ball carrier is deemed to have been brought to the ground. The Situation: "An attacking . player with the ball is ankle tapped and hits the ground. A defending player falls on the player on the ground." Is the Referees ruling? a. A fair tackle has
occurred? b. A fair tackle has not occurred or c. An ankle tap is an illegal tackle. Will the Referee? a. Award the attacking team a penalty. b. Award the defending team a penalty. c. Let play continue. The Answer: This is not a tackle and the defending player should be penalised for wilfulling falling over a player on the ground with the ball in his possession.
