HUGE SIGNS PLAN STEP
CLOSER
BY
LYNLEY WARD
Plans to erect big, bold welcoming signs in the Waimarino district have come a step closer. The Ruapehu South Business Association has received the go-ahead from local bodies and RailCorp to put signs on their land. President Sue Allomes says the signs will be "strategically" placed. "One idea is a welcoming archway into the district over the Maketoke Viaduct," she says. An information kiosk will be going up at the T-intersection of Ohakune's Goldfinch and Clyde Streets. The design and size have still to be decided. Suitable sites for kiosks in Raetihi and Waiouru are still to be discussed. The signs will be sponsored by Ruapehu South.
