EMERGENCY CUB STOP
Well known Waimarino builder Peter Richards was caught playing trains on a recent cub trip to Wellington. Seems our man, who was a volunteer cub escort for the weekend trip to the capital, decided to find out what the big red handle at the end of the suburban rail unit was for. He turned the handle which in turn put the brakes on the train so it couldn't leave the station. The guard and driver came along to reset the offending emergency stop lever and glowered at the most likely suspects, the carriage load of young cubs. No, our man didn't own up and no one was charged the fine for the unofficial emergency brake demonstration. Perhaps the fine is on its way to the cubs as a donation for their next trip?
