Taihape salutes the gumboot

Gudday, Yeah it's that time again. Easter Tuesday is not far away. This is the day we here in Taihape have set aside to restore the dignity and pride of Gumboots. They have long been part of our history and heritage. Their neglect and ill treatment is a national disgrace, a blot on the minute books of conservative groups throughout the country. Successive governments have treated their plight with complete ignorance and steadfastly refused to legislate on their behalf. What else is left o n the back porch all night exposed to wind and weather, on it's side with a sweaty sock up its rear end and the odd weta for company. It's just not fair. Surely you know a gumboot has a sole. If a 20th of the money we've poured into Cabinet Ministers' overseas trips went into gumboot design and research we would be wearing flash fashion gumboots with pride, not sissy thick soled jandals.
We here in Taihape have taken steps to put this matter right. Gumboot Tuesday is a day we ask all New Zealanders to come to Taihape and pay homage to the
