Tea Shop approved
Motorists passing through the Waimarino may soon be able to stop off for a drop of tea and a devonshire bun At last week's final Waimarino County Council Town Planning Committee meeting the application from James and Annette Selwood to operate a tea, crafts and
produce shop on their property north of Raetihi was approved. Submissions on the application were presented from Payne Sewell Ltd, the county 's town planners; The Ministry of Works; and the Wanganui Area Health Board. The only objection to the proposal received was from Trevor Fredericksen of Wellington
Cafe, on the grounds that the tea shop would take business away from tearooms within the borough and that the travelling public would not stop in the town. The Ministry of Works was concerned that the entrance to the tea shop would be a traffic hazard due to poor visibility for approaching drivers.
