Domain use

Use of the Horopito Domain and old school building has been left for the Horopito Domain Committee to decide. Waimarino County councillors discussed the future of the domain at the last meeting of the council Tuesday March 23. The council had received one tender for grazing of the land and, in the same letter, the registration of interest in the use of the school

building as an accommodation lodge for youth and ski groups. The tender came from Horopito market gardener Lance Bishop who offered to repair the fence between his property and the domain in return for the use of the land. Councillor Doug Bennett asked if the letter was a proper tender. "If he repaired the fence the domain committee would come out in front as far as one year goes," said Cr David Griffiths.
